Home  Hope Town, Elbow Cay

Our favorite place, so far, has to be Hope Town.  Its a sleepy romantic town where the standard mode of transportation is either by golf cart or dinghy.  Its signature red and white light house stands tall as you enter the harbour which has obviously captivated other cruisers like us.

We gained access to Hope Town via ferries out of Marsh Harbour a town located south of Emerald Bay and Nutty Mermaid.

David and Dad stand beside a downtown Hope Town memorial for a sunken schooner Roberts and Russell.

The Elbow Cay lighthouse that can be seen up to 17 miles away is the main attraction. It was built in 1864 and stands 120 feet above see level.

A Kodak moment. :)

There are 101 steps to the lantern.  I would hate to be the poor sap that lugs diesel fuel up these steps to light the lantern.  With cruising, we have found that we love being BUMS!

MMMMmmm.  Juicy.

A great view of Hope Town.  This shot is taken from the Atlantic side beach looking over the island towards the harbour and the lighthouse.
