Home  Dry Tortugas 11/10/2007

After 7 days of offshore Gulf of Mexico cruising we arrived in Dry Tortugas to find a beautiful place that exceeded our expectations.  The Dry Tortugas are a small group of Keys located 70 miles west of Key West with a Civil War era fort and a regular contingent of tourists that arrive by plane and ferry daily.

Ahh the million colors of blue.

Vicky storms the fort all guns blazing.

The courtyard inside the fort.  Very quiet and almost eerie.

A view of the fort from Loggerhead Key just a mile to the west.

Loggerhead Key.  A popular destination for Cubans landing on American soil.  Around 700 already this year.  32 landed while we were there.

"Can you get me another beer while I dig for the snorkel gear?"

Windfreak and the FREAK.  The anchorage was a nice one.

Couldnt have been the worst place to be posted in 1860...

Cant get enough.
